The Union Hospital Maternal Health Clinic, established in 1978, is a maternity care clinic. It serves as the community safety net to assure that compassionate family centered prenatal and birth care is available to all pregnant women in the Wabash Valley regardless of financial status.

• Free pregnancy testing
• Complete prenatal care with delivery and postpartum care at Union Hospital
• Centering Pregnancy Group approach to prenatal care
• Sonograms
• Breastfeeding support
• Incentive program with credits for Helping Hands items
• Social service assistance with Medicaid application, transportation, medicine and referral to other agencies
• Prenatal education through individual instruction and group discussion
•Smoking cessation counseling
• Prenatal Substance Use Prevention Program
• Access to Union Hospital’s prenatal and breastfeeding classes
• Birth control methods and counseling
• Sliding fee scale and prepayment plan with discount for those without financial assistance

Providers
Care is provided in the Maternal Health Clinic and at Union Hospital by certified nurse midwives, family nurse practitioners, physicians and faculty affiliated with the Union Hospital Family Medicine Residency. Obstetrical high-risk care is supervised by the Union Associated Physicians Clinic obstetrics group. Expectant mothers may choose to work with a particular doctor or the midwife practice for their care throughout the pregnancy and for their birth.
